The Berlin War didn’t break down over night, why would yours?

Resistance!

If you want to rely on certainty “resistance” is a (very) safe choice.

Resistance seems to be part of our DNA and something we all get to experience at various stages of our lives.

Be that resistance to learn something new or even resistance to success.

My mentor used to tell me:

“what you want (be that promotion, personal power or prosperity) is on the other side of resistance”.

Whenever she said that I honestly didn’t have a clue about what she was talking about.

What on earth did she mean by that?

Wasn’t I “clever enough”, having spent many thousand of dollars on my own personal education and wasn’t I a fully qualified coach? Well, truth be told I probably wasn’t as smart as I thought I was.

The key that I learned is that resistance resides in the mental department.

And if you try to approach resistance with mental tools (like I did) and like so many of us are taught, there isn’t the slightest chance of changing anything except “rearranging a few furniture” on the surface of your mind.

I prefer to take to Einstein’s advice.

Einstein said something to the extend of “you cannot solve a problem with the same kind of thinking that caused the problem in the first place.”

To that I would add that most of the time you really cannot solve the problem by thinking! You have to act; check out of the mental department and start to rely on the wisdom of your gut feeling.

And once you start to do that (let your brain take a rest it probably needs it) and take direct action – which is directed more by your gut feeling than your intellect – that is when life start to change for the better – at least that’s been my own experience for all that it’s worth.

So why am I talking about resistance in the first place?

Because resistance could very well be what is keeping you stuck in your comfort zone.

Maybe you know what you want. For example, reduce your level of stress so that you can sleep at night and stop biting your nails, or perhaps simply getting started on writing the book that’s been on your mind for years.

But you are still procrastinating because you are resisting the change. Don’t get me wrong. Resistance can certainly be good at appropriate times and it isn’t always bad.

But here is the thing.

Most often resistance is developed at a very young age and although it may have been a good strategy at the time being to be on guard and judge everything as good or bad, this strategy probably doesn’t work for you if you are an adult person who wants to create real results.

I mean, results that REALLY matter to your heart, your soul, and your bank account.

So how do you go about breaking your personal wall (of resistance) down?

Here’s a couple of tips to help you get started:

What does Bamboo Roots and Habits have in Common?

Procrastination – 15 Strategies To Overcome Procrastination Today!

Procrastination can be painful but at its core it is nothing but a (really) bad habit.

However, it can be a nasty little one and it quite often holds us back from getting what we really want in life.

The question then seems to be, ”how can I begin to establish empowering habits to support the fulfillment of my goals?”

Changing habits isn’t always easy but it can be done if you really want to.

Although many people would argue that it’s too tough and give up it doesn’t have to be that difficult. Once we understand the nature of habits and how they work it becomes a lot easier to cause correct.

Personally, I learned a lot from doing gardening and the laws of nature.

For the past 3 summers I have been digging out Bamboo roots in my garden and I couldn’t help but notice how the pattern of the bamboo roots seems much like the pattern of habits.

Here are a few of the traits that I see bamboo roots and habits share:

  1. They go deep (well established) and have their persistent ways
  2. The hide below the surface (our habits are most often run by our subconscious mind)
  3. They can be tricky if we don’t identify the relationship between the cause and the effect

It is not the strength of one single habit that makes it hard to break – more so we need to take the time out to identify the root cause and find out why we have the habits that we do and observe the results that our habits create.

For example. You may be focusing on stress in you life and how it affects you in terms of sleepless nights or obsessive worrying, nail biting and so forth.

Although that could be perfectly understandable, I would encourage you to focus elsewhere as this – as unpleasant as it may be – is only the effect of a much deeper root cause.

A better focus could be to look in the direction of your inner belief system.

What is the belief that you hold which is causing the stress?

Do you believe that your work has to be perfect for it to be good enough to bring value to other people or for your boss to approve of it?

And if your work doesn’t live up to your inner critic’s standards – do you give up on yet another project or promotion?

Don’t feel discouraged by this.

There is very good news. You are the CEO of your own habits.

And as the CEO of your own habits you can change them for the better.

Once we understand the nature of our habits there are actually many relatively simple ways to change those (nasty) habits.

Although each of the followings tips could be the subject of an entire article in it self, I hope that you will get the idea. It is also worth remembering that even just a small baby step can actually lead to major changes.

Making the right commitment is key to our success!

As you may have experienced first hand something almost magical happens when you first commit to a certain goal.

Visual Vision 2014

Have you ever thought about color coding, or drawing your vision and goals for 2014?

If so, I can help you.

I have worked with goal setting for the last 16 years in so many different ways and have developed some highly innovative and effective methods that will support you in making 2014 your best year yet.

What I have learned so far is:

1) Setting goals and having a tried and tested follow-up system is key to success.

2) Drawing your visions and goals is a most  powerful tool, and it does not exclude other methods.

3) Having someone who witness your process and calls you forth makes all the difference – you will create much greater results when you have a mentor.

Visual goal setting will ROCK your world.

Have no fear. Visual goal setting is NOT about winning a prize for the best painting.

First of all, no-one but YOU can paint, or draw, YOUR goals for you – there really is no competition. Secondly, drawing will help bring forth that which cannot be revealed by the analytical mind alone.

The best part about this process is that you get to create your vision by using both pictures and words, or symbols and colors. One method does not necessarily rule out the other. You will be truly amazed at the results, even if you are “color-phobic”.

Click here, if you would like me to help you do a powerful “VISION 2014”.

I will lead you through a safe and fun process of revealing your goals – even if you think you don’t have any goals, or are unclear about your vision. I promise you that doing this process will ROCK your world like no ordinary goal setting method ever has.

Although most people create their vision in the beginning of each year, it is important to remember that this is a process you can start at any time during the year. I have a great tool box which will help customize what ever YOU need to help make YOUR vision a reality.

Not everyone is the same. I can help you unlock YOUR own individual potential.

Feeling Overwhelmed?

15 Strategies To Overcome Procrastination Today!

Make Your Someday Today!

It is all to easy to feel overwhelmed by the many choices you have to make on a day to day basis.

Inboxes, piles of papers on your desk, bills to pay, decisions to be made … you fill out the list.

Feeling overwhelmed may lead to procrastination – no action taken that would actually help you achieve what you want.

Have no worries.

First of all you are not the only one who feels that way.

How do I know that? Simply put I read the statistic and feeling overwhelmed seems to be one of the big challenges of todays world of “unlimited possibilities”.

Second, there is a simple way out.

Follow strategy # 3: the 5P’s.

  1. Prioritize – What is most important to you right now?
  2. Plan – You need to plan what action steps to take, right now and what to save for later – you do not need to do it all at once, just one simple step at a time
  3. Proceed – No action = no results. You need to take action right now. Even just a small baby step could actually lead to huge success
  4. Pause – Never ever underestimate the power of pauses. Pauses are necessary. Pauses is actually doing something that will help you rejuvenate
  5. Praise – Never stop to celebrate you own progress. Sure you have not quite achieved what you want to yet, but you are getting there. Don’t compare yourself with others just measure your own progress.
