Recipe for How To Start Art Journaling:
Want to come Art Journaling with me?
Meet Emily from Oakland, California. She was here last week and got started on art journaling, even though she had not done art journaling for years. Join my newsletter and get the full story + a free template for the ON TRACK Map, so that you can begin to journal.
Here’s 3 super simple tips that will have you art journal away
- Give your self permission to go with the flow and do it your way – there is no right or wrong way of doing art journaling. There is only one way and that is your way.
- Get over your fear of the blank space. If you fear messing up the first pages, then leave them blank – you can always go back, when you find out what you want to put into that place. Don’t let the fear of messing up those first pages hold you back from getting started in the first place.
(You can also do your art work on a blank piece of paper and then cut out what you want, leave out what you don’t want, then use a glue stick and see what part you want to add to your journal.)
- Make art journaling a daily practice. Even just for 10 minutes a day will help engage your whole brain, which is great for problem solving (and yes, this is now evidence based).
